Fishing Rods

Fishing Clash has a gear system to help players adjust their chances and stats while catching fish. In this article, you can learn what you can gain by upgrading your gear and how to do it.

Each rod has a starting level of 1 and can be upgraded up to level 7. Each rod is assigned to a specific fishery.

With the update added on 08.01.2020 new features have been introduced to the rod system. Rods acquired earlier will still work according to the previous system, but newly acquired rods will work according to the new policy. You can read more on the new system HERE

Also, each rod has basic stats and perks.

Essential stats and perks affect the rod's performance during fishing sessions.

All perks bonuses can be redrawn by pressing the "Draw" button. Players can choose which value will be redrawn. Such an attempt will cost five pearls. It is not guaranteed that the drawn value will be better. In such cases, the higher value will remain attached to the rod.

Upgrading Rods

When a rod is upgraded, it will transfer to a higher level represented by stars.

Basic perks will get higher values.

The previously drawn random perks and values will stay unchanged.

Each time you upgrade a rod, it receives a new random perk with a random value.

For example: If you want to upgrade a level 2 rod to level 3, you will need:

additional four 2nd level rods to do it (excluding the rod you're upgrading).

Rod perks on the rods used for the upgrade don't have any influence on the perks of the rod you're upgrading.

You can upgrade a rod only with the same level rods and the same fishery.

Level 1 to level 2 – the rod you want to upgrade +5 1st level rods

Level 2 to level 3 - the rod you want to upgrade +4 2nd level rods

Level 3 to level 4 - the rod you want to upgrade +3 3rd level rods

Level 4 to level 5 - the rod you want to upgrade +2 4th level rods

Level 5 to level 6 - the rod you want to upgrade +1 5th level rod

Level 6 to level 7 - the rod you want to upgrade +1 rod 6th level rod

Assigning lures:

You can assign specific fish lures to your rods. It will help you build rods for catching certain fish. To do so, you will have to go to the rod screen, pick up the rod you would like to assign a lure to and then tap the "Assign" button in the lower right corner of the window. A new, lure-picking window will appear.

Those lures will be assigned to the selected rod.

When the assigned fish is picked on the lure selection screen, it automatically equips a designated rod.

The basic rod will have every available lure from the fishery automatically assigned to it. Picking a lure not assigned to any other rod will equip the basic fishery rod.

One lure can be assigned to one rod only. Attaching an already-assigned lure to another rod will unassign it from the previous one.

Basic perks:

Each rod has the same basic stats, but their values are higher at higher levels. The only way to increase basic stats is by upgrading the rod.

There are four basic stats.

Stamina per second: Each fish has a certain amount of stamina points. This value shows how many stamina points will be reduced per second. For instance, if a fish has a stamina value of 200 and the stamina per second value is 20, it will take approximately 10 seconds to catch a fish.

Chance of instant catch: The per cent chance of catching fish instantly when you cast the line.

Line strength: Line strength tells you how long the line will hold on the edge of the fishing bar before it breaks.

Stamina decrease at the strike: How many stamina points will be automatically deducted from the fish stamina when the hook is set.

Random perks:

Apart from the basic stats, each rod will have 1 to 5 random perks.

The number of random perks depends on the current rod level.

Level 1 rod – one perk

Level 2 rod – two perks, etc.

Level 1 rods will have one random perk. When a rod is upgraded, it will receive an additional perk that will be randomly drawn from the pool of available perks.

You can only have a single perk type on a specific rod.
